1st Place 2019 VIA Codeathon
THE PROBLEM
We chose to participate in the quick trips category.

Using the existing iOS VIA Quick Trip (Codeathon 2018) swift code as a template and starting point, rewrite using new code into a responsive web app. Bonus points for new and enhanced features.

THE APPROACH
  1. PLAN QUICKLY
This was the 2nd VIA codeathon we (Team Pixel) participated in. My partner and I knew we had to work quickly and prioritizing our time was going to critical to our success.
  2. CODE. CODE. CODE.
After planning, we split the tasks and began working as quickly as possible.
  3. PRESENT
There are two rounds of judging in the VIA codeathon. The first round is in your category. You do not know if you have made it into the finals until they call your group! It is very stressful, but also exciting! We were extremely focused heading into the judging.

THE RESULT

After a super intense weekend with little sleep, we were so excited to have placed first in our category! While, we could not complete an entire UI for this project, we were proud of the enhancements that were completed. Not only did we complete the quick trips required functionality, we added a chose your own adventure for the VIVA preset bus routes, which are stops at local landmarks! We utilized a Python backend and React frontend, integrating both the Yelp and Google API.
